Anna B. Eckstein
Queen of Diamonds

Teacher; peace activist (* 1868; + 1947)

As a girl, Anna B. Eckstein dreamed of becoming a teacher. At sixteen, she emigrated to New York, believing young women had better opportunities there. She became a teacher at the prestigious Modern School of Languages and Literature in Boston.

She soon became involved in the peace movement and was elected vice president of the American Peace Society. Eckstein founded the 'World Petition to Prevent War Between States' and became known worldwide for her speeches.

In 1913, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Anna B. Eckstein died in Coburg on October 16, 1947.
